Guiding Principles

The Guiding Principles are a major outcome of public engagement efforts. They represent the most prominent themes voiced by community members in 2015 and provide a community and value-based framework for the Vision. These six principles capture our values and aspirations as a community and underlie the goals, policies, and actions in each element of the Comp Plan. The Table of Contents for each chapter includes a bookmark for the Guiding Principles.

Equity

All residents have access to good public services, a range of housing options, and healthy places to live, work, learn, and play.

Sustainability

Natural and cultural resources are protected and conserved to build a future that is physically, environmentally, and socially sustainable.

Community Health

All residents are protected from harm where they live, work, learn, and play. Everyone has convenient access to healthy food, parks and open space, and a wide range of amenities and services.
