City Council
Hearings
City Council will review proposed changes to the Comprehensive Plan for the 2023 Annual Update at an upcoming City Council hearing, likely in May 2024. City Council will hear a presentation from staff, take public comment, vote on any proposed floor amendments, and vote on the bill.

Proposed Changes
Proposed changes to the Comp Plan would be adopted by R-24-27, which would adopt the EPC Redline Draft, unless modified by a floor amendment.
Council's Land Use, Planning, and Zoning (LUPZ) Committee Review
LUPZ reviewed proposed changes for the 2023 Annual Update on April 10, 2024.
LUPZ heard a presentation from staff, took public comment, voted on proposed LUPZ amendments, and voted to send the bill to the full City Council without a recommendation.
EPC Review
EPC voted to recommend APPROVAL of the Albuquerque Comprehensive Plan Update on Thursday, January 18, 2024. This hearing was the first step in the City's review and decision process.

Updates on 2017 Action Items
The City is updating Table 14-3 of the Comp Plan, which tracks the actions that our different City departments committed to in 2017. Our update serves as an educational tool for our community members and a lasting resource for our City staff to measure progress over time, ensuring that the City departments aligned themselves with the goals and vision set forth in 2017.
Community Planning Area Assessments
Near Heights CPA
The Near Heights Community Assessment Report was accepted by Council in April of 2023, and is now being integrated into the Comprehensive Plan. Key themes include access to local institutions and businesses, prevention of historical and community character in built areas, celebration of diverse cultures, and promotion of pedestrian-friendly development.

SW Mesa CPA
The Assessment Report for the SW Mesa area was accepted by City Council on December 4, 2023 via EC-390, and is now being integrated into the Comprehensive Plan. Themes include enhancing community-city ties, infrastructure improvements and growth. Important topics include economic development efforts, business registrations, housing metrics and affordability, park and open space metrics and heritage conservation.
Southwest Mesa Assessment Report
Central CPA
The Central CPA Assessment cycle has come to a close, and the report will be presented to the Environmental Planning Commision (EPC) on January 18th, 2024, which is the first step in the process to be integrated into the Comprehensive Plan. Public comment may be made on the document during the EPC hearing. Key themes that emerged were walkable environments, environmental cumulative impacts, investment in historic and vulnerable neighborhoods and a focus on economic growth in Central Albuquerque.
